In the Argonauts vs Bluebombers game on Sunday, why didn't the Argos opening single point count?
The first score of the game was a punt into the endzone, conceded by Winnipeg for the single point.
Later in the game (after commercial break) the point was taken off the scoreboard and the commentators never acknowledged it. Why not? What happened?
The Bombers were called on a holding penalty which Toronto decided to accept. By accepting the penalty it put the ball on the 5 yard line giving Winnipeg bad field position. If Toronto had declined the penalty then the result of the play would have stood and Toronto would get the single point and the Bombers would get the ball on the 35 yard line. So Toronto decided to give Winnipeg bad field position instead of taking the single point and giving Winnipeg better field position.
