Can Nike Zoom Victory track spikes be used as flats?
I'm wondering if the shoes nike zoom victory track spikes can be as effective as regular running flats when u take out the spikes?
im just planning to use them as flats and spikes for track meets..not practice, so it would be as good as regular flats if i took out spikes??
No, they should not be. Even given that you only plan on wearing them for races, by using them without spikes you leave nothing but a large plastic plate under your forefoot. Despite appearances and the tiny plastic spikes on the spike plate, this does not grip running surfaces well at all – and it’s not designed to. The plastic spike plate is designed to hold the spikes in the shoe and provides only ancillary traction, not the primary grip you will use for racing. “Conversion” spikes that can be used with or without the actual metal spikes always have rubberized running surfaces along the entire bottom for just this reason. Further, the spikes are placed in the shoes at strategic points where your foot will best grip the running surface. Without the metal spikes you are left with voids at these important spots under your feet. Using your Zoom Victorys without the metal spikes would be very ill-advised.
